Getting to Catalina by Air
There are two options for getting to Catalina Island by air. Daily helicopter service from mainland Southern California or flying into Airport in the Sky via private aircraft. There is no commerical air service to Catalina Island.
Helicopter

Private Aircraft
Perched 1,602 feet above the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island’s Airport-In-The-Sky is located approximately 10 miles from Avalon in the Island’s interior. The paved runway is 3,000 feet long. The airport is owned and operated by the Catalina Island Conservancy, which charges a landing fee for private aircraft to use the facility. Overnight tie-downs are available. The Conservancy also operates the Wildlands Express shuttle service between the airport and Avalon. Please contact the airport for service and fee information: 310-510-0143.
