Getting Around

Avalon, Catalina Island’s main town, is only one square mile in size and everything is within easy walking distance. In fact walking is the preferred mode of transportation.

Where Is Catalina Island?

Santa Catalina Island, often called Catalina Island, or just Catalina, is an island off the coast of Southern California.just 22 miles (35 km) south-southwest of Los Angeles. The east end of the island is located at 33 degrees, 18’10″N, 118 degrees, 18’58″W.

Catalina Island Visitor Center

Located at the foot of the Green Pleasure Pier, the Catalina Island Visitors Center can provide information about transportation, accommodations, hiking, biking, tours and activities and events. Open daily, hours vary seasonally.

The weather on Catalina Island is described as a mild subtropical climate with warm year-round temperatures. The average high temperature during winter months is 63 and the average low temperature is 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The average high temperature during summer months hovers around 72 and the average low temperature is 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
