Annual Avalon Benefit 50K/50 Mile Run - January 10, 2026
The Avalon Benefit 50 Mile/50K Run is the oldest Ultra Trail Run in California with the 50 Mile run entering its 42nd year. Running the Avalon Benefit 50Mile/50K provides you a first-rate, up-close and personal experience of one of California's natural jewels in tail running across Catalina Island. The run begins and ends in Avalon and in between you simply have to run the entire length of the island - and back!
Catalina Island Marathon, 10K, 5K and Kids Run - March 14, 2026
This “bucket list” trail marathon is California’s oldest trail marathon and the only one that runs across an island in the Pacific Ocean. The marathon starts in Two Harbors and runs back to the City of Avalon, along the way you will experience views of the Pacific Ocean, wildlife, wildflowers, incredible scenery you will only experience running at the peaks of an island.
44th Annual Avalon Harbor Underwear Cleanup - February 21, 2026
Catalina Divers Supply and the Avalon Rotary Club Foundation are proud to host this annual event. This is the only time scuba diving is allowed in Avalon Bay, with 500+ expected volunteer divers collecting trash and debris.

Catalina Crossing, US Outrigger Championships - September 2026
Come out and see the women finish the longest Polynesian canoe race in the continental U.S., 26 miles from Newport Beach to Avalon, on Saturday. On Sunday watch the men start their race back to Newport Beach.
Catalina Island Half Marathon & 10K - November 8, 2025
A challenging half-marathon around the East End of the island, up behind the Wrigley Mansion; around Renton Mine Road; traversing the backside of the island and then down through the Wrigley Memorial. This weekend also includes our most popular trail 10K of the year, dramatic views of Avalon Bay while you run around historic homes and the lower hillside of Avalon.
