Love Catalina Shares Concert Series Update
Tourism Authority Concert Series Production Awarded to The Perfect Event
Last year, long-time Catalina Island Concert Series producer Xceptional Music, announced the retirement of its owner Ray McKewon. Love Catalina Island has since released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the 2024-2027 seasons of concert production and has announced the awarding of the contract to The Perfect Event. The Perfect Event has been producing island events for several years including the Annual New Year’s Eve Gala, the Catalina Wine Mixer and Two Harbors’ Buccaneer Days.
According to Maddy Scanlon, Director of Sales for The Perfect Event, “Lovers of the Catalina Island Concert Series should rest assured that the quality of concerts and many of the signature acts, will not be lost due to the change in production services.” According to Love Catalina Island CEO, Jim Luttjohann, “The RFP process ran from August through January and included submissions from five production companies, all of which were highly qualified and willing to take on the sometimes difficult tasks related to event production on an island. From the five vendors who initially responded to the RFP, three made it to the final stage of interviews. In the end, the review committee had the most votes for The Perfect Event.” Scanlon added, “We look forward to expanding our operations through this new addition to our work on the island.”
“The 2024 concert season will begin in June or July and include at least three events on Wrigley Stage. “Exact dates and acts will be announced shortly so that visitors and residents can plan to join us for the entertainment,” according to Luttjohann.
