LOS ANGELES—February 15, 2022—Today Spectrum Sports Management announces that moving forward the Catalina Island Marathon will be known as the California Trail Marathon Championship. The marathon will continue to take place on Catalina Island with this years date on March 12, 2022.

In its 40th year, the Catalina Marathon is the oldest trail marathon in California and third oldest in the country. The course travels to sea level on four different occasions and in between has net elevation gain of over 4500 feet.

The course record is still held by ‘Buffalo’ Bill McDermott who has won the race 13 times and set the standing course record in 1991 of 2:39:58.
“We are looking forward the best of the best coming to Catalina to challenge and eventually break Buffalo Bill’s record,” said Bone.
